Making a Difference 
One Student at a Time

Each year our organization recognizes someone who has a passion for stuents with Learning Disabilities, and serves in the community to make a change in education. The Make-A-Difference Award nominees can be emailed to sharpacademy@outlook.com.
Please send a letter telling about an educator that teaches students with Learning Disabilities such as Dyslexia or ADHD, and serves these students with a passion to make a life-changing difference in their lives!

Please include:
You name and telephone number, name of nominee, brief story of how they have made a difference to students with Learning Disabilities, and why you think they should be recognized.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE WINNERS
2019 Manda Moralez Sharp Academy Principal and Dyslexia Interventionist. Mr. Moralez has been dedicated to the mission of Sharp Academy and teaching children to read, and succeed. She is a graduate of TTU, and is pursuing her M.Ed. from University of Eastern Florida.

2018 Dr. John C. & Nita Key
Dr. & Mrs. Key have been donors, and supporters of LLDC and Sharp Academy from day 1, to help their grandson, Chase, and any other student ave the opportunity to learn to read.

2017 Marsha Sharp Serving on the board of LLDC & Sharp Academy from 2009, Coach Sharp has been a great mentor and spoksperson for dyslexics, and learning opportunities in West Texas. the school, Sharp Academy, is named in her honor.

2016 Evelyn Davies Ms. Davies has been a long-time supporter and onor to LLDC, and the new gymnasium and multipurpose center is named in her honor, the Davies Center.

2014 Raymond Cortez Sharp Academy Elementary Core Educator. Mr. Cortez builds academic success at the beginners level, changing lives for the better. Graduate of Lubbock Christian University.

2013 Tiffany Ford Principal and Student Advisor of Sharp Academy. Impacting students live daily! God makes no mistakes! Graduate of Lubbock Christian University with dual Masters Degree.

2012
Mrs. Tonya Bryant: dyslexia therapist at Willow Bend Elementary in Frenship ISD since August 2006
Mrs. Bryant then served as the Dyslexia Therapist at Edgemere Elementary in Plainview until 2006. In 2010, Mrs. Bryant became a licensed dyslexia therapist through the Texas Department of State Health Services. 

2011
Karen Avey
- retired educator from Lubbock-Cooper North Elementary School with 31 years experience teaching students with LD.

2010
Rita McDaniel
- retired Principal Lubbock-Cooper North Elementary School. Rita implemented ground-breaking early intervention programs for LD students on this campus.

Holli Hodges - Certified Language therapist with Pro-Steps. Holli provides a unique reading and writing therapy for students with dyslexia that changes their lives.

2009
Christine Lewis
- District Dyslexia Coordinator for LCISD. Christine has helped hundreds of dyslexic students to have the chance to learn to read through managing the dyslexic therapy programs and making them available.

Gloria Wills - Gloria served as a reading therapist for dyslexics at a local private school and was certified in the Scottish Rite teaching program. She now volunteers for Literacy Lubbock and continues to help people read
