LLDC began in a local veterinarian’s clinic with a friendship between an outgoing, dyslexic young man and an iconic women’s college basketball coach.
Dr. John C. Key’s grandson, Chase Stane, needed ongoing educational support for Jr. High School and Marsha Sharp wanted to do everything she could to, “…make it happen, man!”
Coach Sharp, Chase’s Mom, Lisa, and a group of determined parents began meeting informally to organize a Learning Difference Center for Lubbock. They are following the model of Shelton Schools (www.shelton.org) located in Dallas, TX, and other learning difference support centers in other cities.
A terrific Advisory Board has formed to centralize information for school programs, testing, therapy, parent support and educator support for West Texas.
LLDC is a Non-Profit Organization. We accept donations to improve the quality of life and better education of students with Learning Disabilities by providing information, resources and training to students, parents, and educators. LLDC provides professional development for educators, advocacy-training classes for parents & students, and a parent support group to bring together LD families.
